Left behind when Nashville, Tennessee was abandoned by Confederate forces in 1862 was a bold a decisive Confederate officer - Colonel Nathan Bedford Forrest. He used his calvary to bring order out of the chaos that had befallen Nashville, saved a huge store of military supplies and ammunition from capture, and did not withdraw until enemy armies were entering the city. Such courage and determnation would soon make Nathan Bedford Forrest famous as the "Wizard of the Saddle."
